Lady Sunfish's Life Saving Fundraiser
Story
On the left there, see me in my kayak Muc RÍolais Mhór (translated from the Gaelic it means Great Lady Sunfish, more or less, hence the fundraising page's name) - we usually kayak for fun, but this time we're paddling to save lives.
I am aiming to raise money for toddler drowning prevention by participating in the Left Bank Challenge during the Classic Paddle on the 30th of October 2011, and I would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make!
There on the left you see me on the Swan River - the same river the Challenge is held on. I'll be travelling in the other direction, from Point Walter to the Left Bank in Fremantle. (Hint: if you click on the photo it will come up bigger) I'll try to keep a good speed, I will have a timing bracelet on, and so will all the rest of the flotilla. Wish us luck!
Update: In an exciting development, if all goes well in the land of technology, you should be able to track our progress as we forge onward to the finishline! Using some cool tech, we will be broadcasting our whereabouts during the race, up to an eye in the sky, which will keep the Spot Tracker Site informed as to where we are. So you can be at the race, virtually and track us. How exciting is that?!
So on the day, have a click here and see how we're going.
A huge thank you to all the people who have already donated. I am touched and pleased by your commitment, and very, very grateful. Thank you.

The Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia
Did you know that on average one child drowns in Australia each week?
And for every drowning there are around seven near-drowning incidents.
The REAL tragedy is all of these are preventable.
Royal Life Saving Society WA’s mission is to prevent drownings in the community and run a variety of programs to educate the public on water safety issues.
